HAIKUS are short Japanese poems that I have always been intrigued with. They consist of a first line of five syllables, second line of seven and a third of five syllables....like I said - short. They are usually about nature but I am sort of a rebel, so my subjects vary......ya know, creative license. See if you can tell what I am pondering in each one...description is a little hard with so few syllables. I like the creative challenge....let me know.
1]
Stick soldiers stand tall
Some wearing crested helmets
At ease, it's winter.
2]
Crisp air freshens
Short hours, leaf flowers
Trees ready to rest.
3]
Small oval beauties
A sign of more to come
Tap tap crack they're here.
4]
Soft drops are falling
Green things reach out to embrace
Thirst abated for now.
5]
Tiny propellers
Constant motion all around
Long sip, sweet taste - aaahhhh.
6]
New buds dance and sway
To a springtime aria
Donning lacy greens.
7]
Forgiving all wrongs
Feelings acknowledged or not
Leads to peace and joy.
8]
Gentle snowflakes fall
Gasping to reach solid earth
Silently meet…melt.

Awesome greenery
Pleasure to view (tasty eats)
Herbs, leaves, plants, trees - life!

Green heads breaking earth
Seek warmth from the golden sun
Stretch, reach up with bliss.

Colored skirts sashay
In a wind dance with stick men
Fall has come again.

Undulating waves
Play cat and mouse with the shore
Pause…begin again.

Bursting from the earth
Daffodils, tulips and friends
Spring has newly sprung.

Feisty fireflies
Quickly dip, flit back and forth
Fun moonlight frolic.

Soft moonlit patterns
Hide and seek with dancing trees
Teased by summer breeze.

Stretch boldly midst dusk and dawn
Gently sway in praise.

Ground dressed in a fresh green coat
Happy that it’s spring.

Old houses of those long gone
The sea beckons rest.

Creation sings praise
To the One who lives on high
Even the rocks shout.

The trees wave their hands in praise
Children share with dance.

Who? What? Why? When? Where?
Great tools to tell a good tale
Think, edit, publish.

Network the forest people
Rest bare - it’s winter.

Once upon a time
Is what fairy tales are made of
Real life happens now.

Setting sun winks back.

Shore to ship guides ship to shore
Safety beckons - come.

Feathery friends swoop,
Soar to the heavens with joy
Happy to fly high.

Taking flight post free buffet
Daily food court closed.

Bursting from season's slumber
A new spring has sprung.

Announces where's my breakfast?
The day is long - get moving!

Once upon a time
Honesty was the right thing
Think on days gone by.
